Congratulations! You are official a new business owner Suite renter.

With your access to your new building you are reeling with excitement, atticipation, and most likely a tiny bit of fear. Don't worry, the fear will pass! I know you are going to crush it as a new business owner, especially if you take into concideration what I am about to share with you.

For most new suite owners the most exciting part of it all is the opportunity to create the vibe in your new space. It can be very tempting to run out and start purchasing all of the decor you thing you are going to need. But before you do that, check out these tips for how to create a vibe that reflects you, your clientele, and enhances the over all experience making your service worth more!

There are three common ways that we see people decorate their studios.

  1. Very minimal because when they first move in they don't have extra money for decor. (Absolutely nothing wrong with this!)

  2. They decorate with everything that they love and the clientele they currently have does not prefer that

  3. They don't have a plan and just randomly aquire all types of decor creating a non cohesive vibe in the space.

Filling our Suite full of decor that we love sounds like a dream, doesn't it?

As a beauty professional, we are in the service industry. Part of that service experience should include your clients preferences. Think about this for a moment, a certain type of person is going to be attracted to the same type of decor that you are. Is your clientele largely very similar to yourself or are they different? Does the demographic of clientele you desire in the future have the same tastes as you? Majority of the time the answer is no.

You may be thinking "But I have to work in the space all day so I should love it more than my clients do." And yes, that is true. However, what if you could make your clients feel more comfortable, cared for, and loyal to you by having the decor that makes them feel happy?

So here are 5 things that can make your space vibes feel up leveled and intentional.

  1. Wall color. This may sound obvious but you would be might be surprised at some of the colors people actually choose for their Suite to be painted. The color can really shift the vibe of the room. For example, if you want your clients to be relaxed and calm, it is probably best to stay away from bright, neon, or loud colors such as reds, colbolt blues, lime green, etc.

  2. Type of Decor. The type of decor would be mirrors, shelving, metal art, wooden art, tapestry, faux plants, etc. This different type of decor can feel very different depending on the space. For example, a metal art sign gives more of an industrial mechanical vibe.

Different types of decor can also make the space appear bigger or smaller.

  3. How much Decor. Often times we see Suite renters pack their Suites full of furniture and knick knacks. Many clients find this overwhelming in a small space. Concider a few statement pieces and let them be the highlight of the room.

  4. Storage and Organizing Space. Some suites are small than others. Some Suites have less wall space than others. There are times that it can be difficult to fit all of the supplies, products, and tools we need to do our jobs in a suite. That does require us to get creative with storage space and design. Wall Space can be a great utilization of storage as well as enhance the vibe of the space .

  5. Textures. Textures can be tricky in salon spaces as a beauty professional, especially hair artist. Blankets, pillows, rugs, curtains, and chandeliers are all ways of adding texture in the space. However, these softer items do sometimes get hair in them or stained by chemicals.

  6. Ambiance. Think smells, lighting, and sounds when you think about ambiance. What type of music or sound will there be in the back ground? What smell would make my clients feel comfortable? Would mood lighting enhance their experience?

These are all easy ways to up level your space.

When creating the vibe in your space it is helpful to ask your self this question with each potential purchase you make. "Would this item enhance my ideal clients guest experience, making them feel comfortable, cared for, and loyal to me as their service provider?"

It is easy to get swept up in the excitement of it all but we encourage you to always keep your ideal client at the forethought of each decision you make.

Happy Suite Decorating!
