5 Most Common Misconceptions about Suite Rental

There are many misconceptions about Suite Rental. Although Suite Rentals are not a new concept, there is still a lot of confusion about them, even within the beauty industry. Let’s talk about a few of the most common things I see beauty professionals express confusion about in regards to Suite Rental.

1. Suite Rental is lonely. I suppose this could be true for some people. However, if you have a day full of clients, there isn’t much room for loneliness. Often times we spend the processing time chat with the clients. This makes for a much more personal experience for the client. Also, at Suite Evolution Salon, the other renters are friends and spend time chatting between clients. It definitely feels like  working with a team of people.

2. Suites are only for Hairstylists or Barbers. Beauty Suites are the perfect place for anyone who is a beauty professional. For Example, body waxers, aestheticians, nail techs, head spa techs, tattoo artists, IV and hormone replacement therapy Clinics, braiders, body piercing, massage therapists, lash tech, permament makeup artists, brow techs, and even wellness or energy workers.

3. You make so much more money in a Suite. While this can be true the most important thing is how you use the money you are making. To some people Budget is a dirty word but to be successful in a Suite Rental having a carefully thought out and implimented budget is ESSENTIAL! My favorite resource for this is YNAB.COM

4. You can't move into a Suite Until you have a fully built Clientele. Having a full book of clients is not a must, however it does make the transition to Suite Rental Much easier. Something that often gets missed when mobing, is the fact that most people may have a decently built clientele but have no way to bring in new clientele. Although we don’t plan on any of our clients leaving us, sometimes we have no control over them moving away from the area or passing away. It is standard to have a little bit of attrition in your business and that is why you want to always make sure you are able to fill the spaces that will create in your clientele.

5. All Suites are the same. Suites can vary based on location, size, amenities for the clients, amenities for the tenants. Our favorite thing about the Suites we offer is the option to stand or sit behind the sink while you shampoo. This option gives us longevity in our careers as hairstylists and enhances the guest experience!
